HOW TO SUBMIT

Submissions, from photographers or collectives, must include:

• A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 images related to the project

• Images must be in JPEG format (long side 1200 pixels) and the total size must not exceed 10 MB

• Project title and introductory text (maximum 4000 characters)

• Short biography

Please send a compressed folder named “name_surname” together with the PayPal receipt (to grenze.arsenali.fotografici@gmail.com) confirming payment of €28 (including fees).

Sarajevo Photography Festival (SPF)

Aida Redžepagić, Founder and Director, and Jelena Janković, Program Director, oversee the Sarajevo Photography Festival (SPF), a leading regional platform dedicated to contemporary photography. Established in 2022 and held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, SPF has become a significant space for artistic exchange, critical reflection, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Rooted in openness and support for both the local and broader photographic community, the festival presents a curatorial program encompassing exhibitions, workshops, and educational initiatives that address socially relevant themes. Each year, around 80 photographers are exhibited, with 24 awards granted to outstanding participants. Under Redžepagić and Janković’s leadership, SPF continues to expand the visibility and impact of photographic practice within the regional and international cultural landscape.

Aida Redžepagić, fondatrice e direttrice, e Jelena Janković, direttrice artistica, sovrintendono al Sarajevo Photography Festival (SPF), una piattaforma regionale di primo piano dedicata alla fotografia contemporanea. Fondato nel 2022 e svolto a Sarajevo, Bosnia ed Erzegovina, lo SPF è diventato uno spazio significativo per lo scambio artistico, la riflessione critica e la collaborazione interculturale.

Radicato nell’apertura e nel sostegno sia alla comunità fotografica locale sia a quella più ampia, il festival presenta un programma curatoriale che comprende mostre, workshop e iniziative educative che affrontano temi di rilevanza sociale. Ogni anno vengono esposti circa 80 fotografi, con 24 premi assegnati ai partecipanti più meritevoli. Sotto la guida di Redžepagić e Janković, lo SPF continua a espandere la visibilità e l’impatto della pratica fotografica nel panorama culturale regionale e internazionale.

Born in Barcelona, David Pujado has been based in Belgrade since 2013, where he runs Bartcelona Koncept, a photography platform that has showcased more than 80 exhibitions.

In 2015, he set up Belgrade Photo Month, an annual festival dedicated to exhibiting and promoting photography in Belgrade, which has become biennial since 2022. In 2022, he established Belgrade Photo Book Week, which had been held for the second time in April 2024.

He is currently working on the 7th edition of Belgrade Photo Month, which will open in May 2025.

Since 2021, he has been the curator and coordinator of the Catalan Film Festival in Serbia. The first edition was dedicated to promoting Catalan cinema in Serbia. In 2024, the festival will celebrate its 3rd edition, first in Belgrade and then in Sarajevo.

Nato a Barcellona, David Pujado vive a Belgrado dal 2013, dove gestisce Bartcelona Koncept, una piattaforma fotografica che ha ospitato più di 80 mostre. Nel 2015 ha fondato Belgrade Photo Month, un festival annuale dedicato all’esposizione e alla promozione della fotografia a Belgrado, diventato biennale dal 2022. Nel 2022 ha istituito Belgrade Photo Book Week, che si è tenuta per la seconda volta nell’aprile 2024. Attualmente sta lavorando alla settima edizione di Belgrade Photo Month, che si aprirà a maggio 2025. Dal 2021 è curatore e coordinatore del Catalan Film Festival in Serbia. La prima edizione è stata dedicata alla promozione del cinema catalano in Serbia. Nel 2024 il festival celebrerà la sua terza edizione, prima a Belgrado e poi a Sarajevo.

Marta Szymanska is a photography curator from Poland. She has been creating Fotofestiwal - International Festival of Photography in Lodz since 2004 and Fotofestiwal Collective since 2017. The Collective tests democratic, non-hierarchic models of cooperation and managing cultural projects. Marta is responsible for Fotofestiwal’s programme. She gained much experience in curatorial practices and management as a vice-director of the Archeology of Photography Foundation (2014-2019). Marta is also a regular contributor to Sputnik Photos, an international collective of photographers from Central and Eastern Europe. Marta is an active portfolio reviewer and she supports artists in their creative process. Her main interests include activist and engaged practices, archive-based projects, and photography from Central and Eastern Europe.

Marta Szymanska è una curatrice di fotografia proveniente dalla Polonia. Dal 2004 è ideatrice di Fotofestiwal – Festival Internazionale di Fotografia di Łódź e, dal 2017, del Fotofestiwal Collective. Il Collective sperimenta modelli democratici e non gerarchici di cooperazione e gestione di progetti culturali. Marta è responsabile del programma di Fotofestiwal. Ha maturato una grande esperienza nelle pratiche curatoriali e nella gestione come vice-direttrice della Fondazione Archeologia della Fotografia (2014-2019). Marta è anche una collaboratrice abituale di Sputnik Photos, un collettivo internazionale di fotografi dell’Europa centrale e orientale. È inoltre una revisore di portfolio attiva e supporta gli artisti nel loro processo creativo. I suoi principali interessi includono pratiche attiviste e impegnate, progetti basati su archivi e fotografia dell’Europa centrale e orientale.

Simone Azzoni (Asola 1972), graduated in Modern Literature and Philosophy in 1996. He began his career in 1988 when he became master Colalucci's curatorial assistant during the restoration process of Sistine Chapel. He is an art critic and, since 2012, professor of Contemporary Art History at the IUSVE Pontifical University. Since 2023 he has been a professor of Aesthetics of Visual Arts at the Santa Giulia Academy of Fine Arts (Brescia). Azzoni also teaches Critical Reading of Images and History of Art at the Palladio Institute of Design in Verona (since 2005). In 2021 he is a professor of History of Graphics within the Master Publishing Journalism - Cultural Management at the University of Verona. He is interested in Net Art and New Media Art and Art Marketing tips. Simone Azzoni has curated numerous exhibitions in unconventional places, both in Italy and abroad. He is a theater critic for national magazines and newspapers. He authors seminars on Critical Reading of the Performing Arts at the University of Verona as well as theatrical texts performed all over the world. He organizes research and experimental theater reviews with the Teatro Nuovo Foundation of Verona and, since 2012, Azzoni has been co-artistic director of Theater Art Verona. He is the co-Founder, Artistic Director and Curator of Grenze - Arsenali Fotografici, artistic director of the multidisciplinary space Il Meccanico. Among the recent publications, "Frame – Videoarte and surroundings" was published by the University publishing house, "Stretch marks" by Mimemis and in 2021 "Theatre and photography. Conversations with Enrico Fedrigoli”; and for LazyDog “The hen's gaze”, in 2024 “Wim Wenders: 1964-1984” by Wim Wenders and Simone Azzoni , and in 2025 “Vida detenida” by Pedro Almodóvar and Simone Azzoni (catalog of the exhibition of the same name he curated in Verona).

Simone Azzoni (Asola 1972), si è laureato in lettere moderne e filosofia nel 1996. Ha iniziato il suo percorso nel 1988 quando era assistente curatoriale del Maestro Colalucci durante il restauro della Cappella Sistina. È critico d’arte e docente di Storia dell’arte contemporanea presso lo IUSVE (dal 2012). Da ottobre 2023 è docente di Estetica delle arti visive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti SantaGiulia (Brescia). Insegna inoltre Lettura critica dell’immagine e Storia dell’Arte presso l’Istituto di Design Palladio di Verona (dal 2005). Nel 2021 è docente di Storia della grafica all’interno del Master Editoria Giornalismo - Management Culturale presso l’Università degli Studi di Verona. Si interessa di Net Art e New Media Art e Art marketing tips. Ha curato numerose mostre in luoghi non convenzionali in Italia e all’estero. È critico teatrale per riviste e quotidiani nazionali.
